Rift Rush

Privacy policy

Updated 2026-09-11. This policy describes data used by Rift Rush. Published by Joshua Higdon.

You can play and keep your career on this device without enabling online rankings or ads. These choices are separate and can be changed in Settings.

Your device

Progress, best runs, unlocked ships and trails, personal ghosts, settings, and privacy choices are saved locally. Eligible runs and an online session are also stored locally when online rankings are enabled. Local ad diagnostic records help show delivery status; the game does not upload these diagnostic records to the developer.

Rift Rush does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, precise location, or photo library. When you share a run image, the system share sheet lets you choose where it goes. Device or operating-system backups may include local app data.

Online rankings are optional

Use Settings → Online rankings → Enable online rankings to join. This creates a guest online account with a private account identifier and a generated public Pilot name. A guest account is pseudonymous: its records are linked to that account even though you do not enter your real name or an email address.

To verify a scored run and keep fair rankings, the game sends the run identifier, course and mode, course date, flight inputs, simulation duration, and account information. The service stores the verified result, score, distance, run statistics, timing, and verification-related records. Your public Pilot name, public pilot identifier, rank, score, relevant run statistics, and recording time may appear in rankings. Your private account identifier and complete flight-input recording are not public.

Online services use Supabase. Network requests also expose connection information, such as your IP address, to the service and its infrastructure providers. See Supabase’s privacy policy.

Control and delete online data

Turn rankings off in Settings → Online rankings to stop new score submissions. Turning rankings off does not delete existing online records. You can still play offline.

Choose Delete online account & data, then confirm Delete account & data to request removal of your Rift Rush online profile, scores, and run records. Local career progress, ships, trails, and settings stay on this device. The app clears its online session, pending score submissions, and cached rankings after confirmed deletion. Rankings remain off until you explicitly enable them again; enabling later creates a new online account.

Deletion needs a connection. If it cannot finish, the app keeps the request available with Retry deletion and stops new submissions. Keep the app installed until it confirms completion. Deleting a Rift Rush online account does not delete Apple Game Center data or a separate account in another game.

Online account and ranking records do not automatically expire; they are kept until you delete them. A pending deletion request remains linked to the guest account until it finishes. After completion, a minimal recovery receipt holds a random request identifier, a one-way digest of the request credential, and request timestamps for up to 31 days so the app can confirm a deletion after an interrupted connection. It does not retain the raw credential or private account identifier. Provider security logs and backups are handled under the provider’s policies and are not necessarily erased at the same moment as active game records.

Ads are a separate choice

Ads start only after you choose that you are 18 or older and allow ads. If you are under 18, decline, or have not answered, the game does not initialize the ad service or request new ads. Core play and progress do not require ads.

The game uses Unity Ads with personalized ads and sale of data disabled in its requests. It does not request Apple’s tracking permission. When ads are enabled, Unity may process device identifiers, coarse location, ad interactions, product usage, purchase-related signals, device and performance information, and other ad-delivery data. If you report an ad, information you provide may be used for support. See Unity’s game player and app user privacy policy.

Use Settings → Ad privacy → Turn ads off to stop new ads. This does not recall information already sent, end a request already in progress, or change data kept by Unity under its own policy.

Apple Game Center and sharing

Game Center is optional and is handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy. Your Game Center display name is not used as your public Rift Rush Pilot name. Game Center does not provide recovery or cross-device synchronization of your local Rift Rush career. System sharing sends only the content you choose to the destination you select.

Local data and questions

Uninstalling the app removes its local save from that device; it does not by itself delete online records. Request online deletion first if that is your intention. Restoring an operating-system backup may restore local app data.

Privacy and data controls are available in Settings → Online rankings and Settings → Ad privacy. The Help & support page explains troubleshooting without requiring an online account.
